The average guy has fantasized more times about getting it on with a hot librarian with glasses more times than he can remember. Unfortunately while it’s true some women have a preference for bespectacled men, isn’t an equivalent fetish. Wearing glasses is perfectly normal and common, and most girls won’t hold it against you. Having said that, while just wearing glasses won’t necessarily hurt you when it comes to dating, wearing unflattering glasses will.
Get The Best You Can Afford
Assuming you’re unable or unwilling to wear contacts or get your eyesight surgically corrected, the best thing you can do is make sure you’re at least putting your best “eyes” forward. The first step is choosing the right frames. While the price of a complete pair of glasses might be quite high depending on your prescription, keep in mind that you’ll be wearing them year round; the best doesn’t always have to be the most expensive. When we say best we’re talking about nice, flattering frames that aren’t flashy, and won’t embarrass you no matter what time of day or season it is. Take a female friend with you to help you choose great frames if necessary. You should do this especially if you have trouble seeing your reflection without your glasses.
If you’ve been buying the same kind of glasses for the last 10 years, you might not be aware that you can now get optional features that flatter how you look with glasses. For example, substitute thinner high-index lenses for the thicker glass or plastic lenses you’re probably used to. And the smaller the frames you choose, the thinner the lenses can be made. But beware of choosing frames that are too small for your face, you’ll look like a freak. Get anti-reflective coating as well. This reduces sun glare and camera flash on your glasses, and is nice if you want to take good photos of yourself to post online.
Maintain Your Investment
Now that you’ve invested all that money into your frames and lenses, don’t let that go to waste. Keep your frames clean. Wash your lens regularly with warm, soapy water. Clean not only the lens, but along the frames to remove any build up of dirt and oil, because that will grow into a green algae over time if left alone. Don’t assume girls won’t get close enough to see how clean your glasses are. At some point, every glasses wearing guy will date a girl who wants to try his glasses on. You don’t want to gross her out when she realizes that you walk around every day with greasy lenses, and the equivalent of a toxic waste dump sitting on your face. If you usually throw away the small piece of cloth that comes with your glasses, change that habit now. Start drying your new glasses with that cloth instead of your shirt to avoid scratches that ruin your lens.
