Scattergories without All the Extras
We’ve found one game that women seem to enjoy whenever we’re trying to kill awkward silences is playing a word game similar to scattergories. The best thing about this game is that it doesn’t require you to use the extra materials that come with the board game. It’s also extremely easy to play and lighthearted enough where she won’t think you’re weird for wanting to play it.
Whenever you start to feel like things are getting a bit too awkwardly quiet, simply ask her if she wants to play a game. When she agrees, tell her that the two of you have to take terms naming various categories of things that start with a single letter up until you finish the alphabet. For example, if you chose movies, each of you would have to name a movie that started with an A, B, C, and so on. It’s a little different from the actual game, but it’s still fun and if you’ve done something embarrassing, the fun she’ll have with this game will make her forget all about it.
Name the States
This is another great game to play to get rid of awkward silences, especially if neither of you are very good with geography. Also, she’s probably played this game a few times when she was younger, so it will be a bit of nostalgia for her.
The way to play the game is simple. If you’re somewhere, say a restaurant for example, use an ink pen to draw on a paper napkin and draw a map of your country. Once your map is drawn, try to see who can fill out the most states in the quickest amount of time. If you want to make it even more fun (and difficult), draw a map of another country and try filling out the areas located there. This is an especially great game to eliminate awkward silences because eventually the two of you will be so excited about the game that you’ll start working together or laughing at each while trying to finish your maps.
Just because you’re no longer a child doesn’t mean you have to resort to boring dates where you feel like you’re trying to be something that you’re not. Women like to have fun and play games just as much as guys do. The next time you feel an awkward silence setting in, bring the fun back with a simple game that will not only kill those awkward silences, but will also show her just how fun you can be.
