Muscles won’t carry you as far as they used to. Who knows if it’s because of the rising trend of hot nerds or what, but women don’t love big muscles anymore. Now it’s the lean men who are getting all of the ladies. So what are you supposed to do if you’re already jacked but want to lose that muscle? It’s not as hard as you’d think.
Up Your Cardio
Getting more cardio time isn’t the only way to cancel out muscle. You could also do it more often or on an empty stomach. With the extended cardio in your workout plan your body will be forced to use your muscle mass after it’s burned up your reserves. While it’s not recommended that you workout on an empty stomach, you can still get this result by upping your time spent on the treadmill to over 45 minutes.
Cut Down Your Calories
If you just aren’t sure what you’re supposed to do at the gym, a nice rule of thumb is to avoid anything that pumps your muscles. Even cardio bikes pump the thighs and calves, resulting in bigger muscle tone. Instead of doing that just try walking along level planes or swimming. Swimming is an excellent low-impact exercise that will give your whole body a workout. The only thing to watch out for is your upper body; your arms and shoulders will get bigger if you use them a majority of the time.
Why You Should Want a Leaner Figure
None of this is going to work unless you actually want to look slimmer. You don’t have to give up your dreams of being strong, just the meathead muscles. What most guys figure out after they’ve pumped iron and did their dead lifts is that once you reach those balloon sized muscles you’re going to feel slow and bulky. It’s like putting on a fat suit and lugging all of that extra weight around, the only difference is that you will be strong. You’ll also be sort of immobile. Some world-class body builders can’t even brush their own hair or wipe their own ass because their biceps are so big.
The trend of the 90’s has passed. No longer do giant muscles and humungous implants (for the ladies) grace the covers of the magazines. Keeping a lean, fit body is far more likely to get you laid than having one where you’re going to crush the girl under you.
